Understanding GRE Scoring
- Verbal & Quantitative Reasoning: Scores are in 1-point increments between 130-170 (total max: 340).
- Analytical Writing: Scored in 0.5-point increments between 0-6 based on argument clarity, structure, and development.
- No Negative Marking: No penalty for wrong answers, so it’s best to attempt every question.
- Score Validity: GRE scores remain valid for 5 years.

- Computer-Adaptive Nature: The Verbal and Quantitative sections are section-adaptive, meaning:

Human Rater & AI Scoring – Essays are graded by an ETS-trained rater and an AI system.
If there’s a discrepancy, a second human rater is involved.
